Heartbroken. Disney Ceases Broadcast in South East Asia

Definitely a Disney Baby like me, my Coco’s days were filled with watching shows from Disney Junior since he was an infant. He memorized the schedule of shows as a toddler. He knew all schedules of Hi-5 for the day. He watched all versions of Mickey Mouse cartoons – from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to Mickey and the Roadster Racers to Mickey Mouse’s Mixed Up Adventures to Micky Mouse Funhouse. My then 3-year old thought he was PJ Mask’s Catboy, whom again, he watched all the episodes available the whole day, despite the fact that he has already watched them already. He was addicted to PJ Masks for at least 5 years of his life.

He watched Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heroes, Puppy Dog Pals, Chuggington, Bluey, Handy Manny, Jake the Neverland Pirate to Captain Jake, Henry Huggle Monster, The Lion Guard, Miles from Tomorrowland, Goldie & Bear, and The Rocketeer. He didn’t care if the lead role were girls or princesses he loved them all – Sofia the First, Mira, Royal Detective, Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, Elena of Avalor, Sheriff Callie’s Wild West and Fancy Nancy. The newest show he totally enjoys watching Spidey and his Amazing Friends. My boy grows up and starts watching via Disney Channel too. He loves watching Phineas and Ferb, Amphibia, Rabbid’s Invasion, Upin and Ipin, Cupcake & Dino and Milo’s Murphy’s Law. He outgrew Catboy but he loved another Cat, Cat Noir from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

You see, my boy’s life revolved around Disney Junior and Disney Channel, which we conveniently have c/o Sky Cable. Today, while Coco was watching, he saw an announcement – The channel will cease operations on 1 October 2021. We were so surprised. I immediately search for it and I found it in My Sky Updates.

CocoHi52014You know, I got very sad for Coco as his life revolved around Disney Junior and Disney Channel. Even if he tells me that it is okay and that he will move on. It is still heartbreaking for me. I’ve always been excited of Disney+ and have always wanted to have but it is sad to know that it isn’t available yet here in the Philippines. I’ve always been willing to shell out for Disney. You know, IT IS DISNEY! CocoPJMasks2017
We don’t know yet when it will coming here. But I’m sure it will since they are already starting with the ceasing of operations of their channels. Plus, though it isn’t verified yet, There is already a DisneyPlusPH Instagram account.

Although it isn’t verified yet with a blue check, it does have the same format as the other official ones and it says, coming soon! So could it be, it is coming sooner now, rather than later?

I HOPE SO!!! We are so heartbroken. Disney Plus Philippines, we will be waiting for you!

PS. I can’t find my old pictures of Coco watching Disney shows via our very old box type TV. But here are some Disney related pictures that I found that he has through the years. Find all about our Disney Adventures here.

  1. Aww, this is so sad! But I reckon they are doing this realignment especially if Disney Channel isn’t profitable enough in South East Asia. HOpe the Disney+ will materialize there. Maganda rin mga content nila, ala Netflix. I watched many old romantic movies from Disney+

  3. Sobrang nostalgic ng Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! 😀 More and more people are spending more time on streaming online na kasi than watching tv. We got rid of our tv na din kasi nakatambak lang huhu

  4. Yeah, I read about that too. They said they’re moving to streaming now since it’s more popular, but they aren’t showing here, so I’m pretty disappointed too. Especially that Marvel movies will be shown there.

  5. I was definitely shocked when I read that news too. My kids also grew up with Disney. I hope Disney+ will be here soon. They have a pretty great line up of shows.

  6. So sad. My kids loved some of the Disney shows before. Disney Plus is good news. It’s definitely streaming > cable tv.. a new era for the entertainment industry.
