We’ve been in Enhanced Community Quarantine the last XX days and there are food that I miss eating that I have been craving for a while now. Pre-Covid days, we used to wait up for manong taho to pass by our street every morning and have taho for breakfast. In the afternoon, when I feel like it, I would just go out of our unit and head over to where manong iskrambol or manong sorbetero hangs out.

Now in our life in the time of Corona, we’ve been cooped up in our homes and we couldn’t go out just anytime we want. Our friendly manongs probably lose their jobs, as they couldn’t even sell their goods.

I got to know our friends from the Home of your Favorite PH Street Food, Avenida Pedestrian Delights is actually a one-stop of all our favorite street food. From the catering industry, serving an average of 100 events per month, they switched to delivering services during this season.

Here are the Pinoy favorites that you would want to try:

1. Soyblessed Soymilk – as they call it, “liquefied taho”, made of non-GMO soybeans with zero preservatives. It is sold in 500ML (P60-65) and 1L (P100) in original, capuccino and chocolate flavors.

2. Sorbelato Ice Cream – a combination of our favorite sorbetes and the smooth creamy taste of gelato ice cream. They use fresh fruits and real ingredients like cheese and ube halaya. Flavors available: Buko, Cheese, Chocolate, Melon, Vanilla, Coffee, Cookies and Cream, Ube, Strawberry, Avocado, Mango and Ube Macapuno. It is sold in 1/4 Gallon (P300-400) and 1/2 Gallon (P500-700). You can also add waffle cones.

3. Ice Iskrambol Kit – It is slushy to the new generation, but it will always be iskrambol, especially to us 90’s kids. It comes with iskrambol syrup, special drizzle sauce and mini marshmallows. Ice is not included for hygienic purposes. It is sold in Family size (P300) for 8 pax (12oz servings) and Party Size (P1000) for 32-35 pax (12oz servings).

4. Soyblessed Classic Taho Kit – taho made from non-GMO soybeans imported from Canada, with no preservatives nor extenders. To add more fun to it, it comes with your own scooper mala-manong taho. PS. Soyblessed Taho is cooked between 6-7AM daily! It is sold in small tub (P150), good for 4 pax (8oz) and large tub (P300) for 8 pax (8oz).

While I really enjoyed them all, satisfied craving and happy taste buds — it is Coco who was the one who actually enjoyed the DIY kits because he actually did it himself. He especially enjoyed the iskrambol that he tasted for the first time. You know how I’m actually afraid to let him taste street food, not to offend anyone, he just had a history with a certain food before, that is why I am quite careful to let him taste something new, add the fact that he is picky. So,thank you to Avenida for this new experience for Coco that he surely enjoyed this time in quarantine.
