Touched down Davao International Airport at around 6:00 AM. Our driver was patiently waiting for us at the parking lot.
We had prior arrangements with a certain Travel Agency that I won’t be recommending. They were the one who arranged our dormitel accommodations and van rentals. Hindi namin nagustuhan ang customer service and treatment of the agent handling us – to think that we’ve known her since Highschool. But I do recommend the van rental company that the agent got for us which is — Asaldo Car Rental — you can contact our driver: Elton at 0947.221.3427. As per arrangement, the van would pick us up at the airport and drop us to Green Windows Dormitel (where we will be staying for 2 nights).
Since it’s still pretty early, not even 7AM and check in time is at exactly 2PM, we just dropped our bags at the dormitel’s front office and headed out to tour the city!
Breakfast at Barbeque Boss (Quirino Branch), just a few minutes away our dormitel building. Meals are relatively cheap but we weren’t satisfied because 1) we waited for 30 minutes or even more for food for 9 pax which consist of tapa and tocino 2) we expect it to be hot but no! wala man lang bahid ng init — to think that we were the first customers of the day.
We rode a jeepney with a signage of Toril and went down at CM Recto for the Parade. Here are some snaps of the parade.
We were so tired from the pushing and squeezing in through the crowd that we just went back to the dormitel and fell as sleep at their lounge until lunch time. I love the food in the dormitel’s cafeteria. Imagine 166php for 2 sets of meal with juice and coke in can pa. Exactly after we ate lunch, our room is already available for check in. We just stayed in our room until Loraine, Seska and Jeng arrived (because they took the 12noon flight to DVO).
At 4PM, we went to Davao Crocodile Park to pay for the reservation fee of the rafting (for 10 pax: fee is 1500 each includes lunch and the CD of pictures/video; if less than 10 pax, the fee is 2000php)
And we saw an ice cream stall – Sweet Spot Ice Cream – 3 scoops of freshly made ice cream for 40php or depends on the flavor. I was able to taste banana and melon flavor, it taste like real banana/melon. Cookie monster tastes good too! They make the ice cream right inside their stall.
As per their poster – MUST TRY the Crocodile Durian flavor. But I didn’t try it out 😀
We tried dropping by the 2 ziplines around the crocodile park area, but since it is past 5pm already, they are already close.
We then headed to Jack’s Ridge‘s Taklobo Restaurant for dinner! Love the view of Davao City. The cool breeze and the food!
Day 2 Happens Here!
Green Windows Dormitel is located at 5th Floor FTC Tower, Mt. Apo Street, Davao City Center. We got a dorm room good for 12 pax (700/pax for 2 nights with breakfast)
