When the full trailer for the upcoming MMFF2025 film, Call Me Mother, dropped, did you wonder how they were able to shoot like that in Hong Kong Disneyland? ‘Cause I absolutely did!
Imagine, No crowds! Where were all the people? They even did a ring-a-round-a-rosie with the main Disney characters right in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams—just like that!
Like, how?! 🤔
At the December 3rd, 2025, It’s Showtime episode, Meme Vice Ganda, who top-bills the film alongside Nadine Lustre, shared the answer to my question – The Call Me Mother team is said to be the very first Asian film (and only the third film worldwide) that was allowed to shoot inside the premises of the Happiest Place on Earth!
Vice Ganda thanked HongKong Disneyland for the incredible opportunity during the said episode, urging fans as well, “Sa mga hindi pa nakakapunta ng Disneyland, makakapunta kayo sa Disneyland ‘pag pinanood niyo ang pelikulang ito, kasi ang daming eksena do’n, parang nandodoon na din kayo. Kaya maraming salamat sa Disneyland!“
The excitement is real—the trailer has already garnered an incredible cumulative views across all social media platforms just 16 hours after its release!
Call Me Mother is a comedy-drama that centers on a fierce tug-of-war over a young boy’s heart, raising questions about what truly defines a mother. Twinkle (Vice Ganda), a devoted single queer mother, is preparing to finalize the adoption of her beloved son, Angelo. Her plans are suddenly complicated by the arrival of Mara (Nadine Lustre), Angelo’s beautiful and ambitious biological mother. In a bizarre agreement, Twinkle, a seasoned pageant coach, agrees to train Mara for an international beauty competition. In return, Mara is supposed to let the adoption proceed.
However, as they work together, Mara begins to bond with Angelo, launching both “mothers” into an intense and comical competition to prove who deserves really to be called MOTHER. Is motherhood defined by biology, or by the love and devotion of the person who raised the child?
An official entry to Metro Manila Film Festival 2025, Call Me Mother, directed by Jun Robles Lana, also stars Mica Salamanca, Brent Manalo, Klarisse, Esnyr, Shuvee Entrata and introducing Lucas Andalio.
