Writing this before All Saints Day 2024 is over. It is halloween break and Coco has been on semi-school break since the almost week long suspended classes due to Typhoon Kristine last week. He has munched most of his supposed baon for school and he suddenly asked me few days ago what he is going to wear on Halloween. I was like. WHHUUT! I thought he didn’t want to dress up for Halloween and do trick or treating anymore. But he still does and it was already too late to join as most Halloween Parties for kids happened already last weekend. I still asked him though what he wants to wear. I think he thought about it for a long time and then he said that we wanted to be Tom Gates – his favorite book and book character for the last 2 years, since he saw this Liz Pichon book at The Works in UK.

Of course, the DIY momma in me tried her very best to produce this very simple costume. So simple, I just needed white sweats/jogger and a duct tape and voila, I have Tom Gates already. I’m so happy I delivered. I am so happy as well that he still asked for halloween. I may have not told him, but I was getting sad already since halloween is my favorite season and I know, he does as well. And I am not yet ready to let go of this tradition yet. I am still hoping for few more years of this and I hope he still do too.

So here’s what you need if your son wants to be TOM GATES – just prepare white sweats/jogger, duct tape, and illustration board for the face. Just tape an outline to the clothes, draw his face and punch a hole. And there you have it, Welcome to Tom Gate’s Brilliant World!
